El Concilio California Academies is excited to welcome students and families to our first charter school, Astronaut Jose M. Hernandez Academy, formerly known as Delta Bridges. We are honored to have our school named after José Hernandez. Astronaut Hernandez was a former migrant farmworker here in the Central Valley. His desire was to become an Astronaut and work for NASA. He was rejected 11 times before his dreams became a reality. In 2004, on his 12th try he was selected by NASA as a member of their 19th class of astronauts. His story will serve as motivation to our scholars not only to reach for their dreams, but also the importance of a quality education, hard work, reliance, and perseverance.
We are honored to welcome our new students as well as our returning students. We are dedicated to the success of each scholar and have made many recent improvements to our campus. There has been a lot of planning and preparation in order to get ready for this school year and we can assure you that all of the staff of Astronaut Jose M Hernandez Academy is committed to providing an excellent academic and nurturing environment for your scholar. We are prepared to start the year off strong and your involvement in vital.
